Home Remedies for Morning Sickness
Women, are you experiencing nausea, vomiting, or heaviness? Then you may want to get out the pregnancy test and make sure it is or isn’t morning sickness. And these symptoms do not have to be in the morning only but can occur separately or together any time of the day. Morning sickness can occur as early as 2-3 weeks after conception and is usually the first sign of pregnancy.
Morning sickness is usually attributed to increased levels of estrogen in women and can cause such things as increased sensitivity to certain odors or tastes, low levels of blood sugar, and increase in bowel movement. Studies show that morning sickness can be a safeguard for the embryo’s health. If the mother has been using alcohol, sugar, oils, and meat, morning sickness can occur. This could be nature’s way of discouraging the consumption of less healthy foods.
Treatment for morning sickness includes making a list of odors or tastes which causes the sickness and avoiding those odors and tastes. Likewise, you should eat often and include dry snacks such as crackers or toast before going to bed and when you wake up. Ginger has always been an effective morning sickness remedy. Seep the leaves in hot water for at least five minute as a tea and drink as often as possible. Lemons have a very good effect on morning sickness as they are pleasant smelling and can be added to a tea. When having your tea include the crackers or a biscuit as recommended above and try to have this as soon as you wake up in the morning. Mints gums may also alleviate the symptoms of morning sickness so it is advised to keep a pack of gum nearby throughout the day. Peppermint or spearmint or any other mint will work.
The good news with morning sickness is some women never experience it and the ones who do usually get over it after a few weeks or months. If you are sick with morning sickness just remember why you have it. A child is one of the best gifts that God has given us and we should appreciate it every day.
